From site inspection to securing locations
MHB examines potential PV sites with great care, taking a variety of criteria into account. Uninterrupted and long-lasting solar radiation is of crucial importance for the economic operation of photovoltaic systems.
If a site is suitable for photovoltaics, detailed discussions are held with the owners and usage agreements are concluded. The land usually remains in municipal or family ownership. Depending on whether the photovoltaic system is to be operated by the landowner or developed by MHB, MHB only secures the long-term usage rights for the construction and operation of the photovoltaic system. In return, the owners receive an annual lease payment.

Planning and approval of PV systems
In order to operate an effective photovoltaic system, many technical components must be carefully coordinated. These include the selection of PV modules and inverters, optimum assignment and connection within the system and efficient grid connection implementation.
Before a ground-mounted photovoltaic system can be erected, a development plan must be approved by the local authority. During the development plan process, both citizens and relevant specialist authorities are involved. Various independent expert opinions may be required, e.g. on nature and species conservation or glare. If the local authority approves the development plan, the building application can be submitted.
If a PV system meets the criteria of the EEG, a bid for the EEG surcharge is submitted in parallel to the central tendering procedure of the Federal Network Agency. For a PPA system, on the other hand, electricity supply contracts are negotiated with potential buyers of the PV energy.
